Nature in and around Dong Hoi is for everyone to see. One can see trees in streets and the park. Flowers in gardens, the park, in front of houses, and hanging over walls give colour and scent to city life. A little bit further out of the city one can see egrets in rice fields and plovers at the beach.
Smaller life though, are usually considered nuisances such as caterpillars on plants, or mosquitoes buzzing around one’s head. It is easy to forget that plant-eating caterpillars morph into the beautiful butterflies that grace gardens and parks. And look more close and the those smaller life forms can be little gems running over tree leaves and hiding under fallen trees.
